The outsourcing of Qimonda did not have any effects on the business process up to now

Breisach, Mai 2nd 2006. The outsourcing of the memory sector of Infineon to the new Qimonda in form of an incorporated company did not have any effects on the running business processes up to now.
The customers who have ordered Infineon products up to now can go on ordering them as usual. The item numbers and the ordering procedure did not change up to now. The separation will allow the two companies Infineon and Qimonda to concentrate more on the corresponding markets. Infineon sees itself encouraged in its competition position. In order to avoid the so called “pork cycle”, the memory sector had been dissociated from Infineon. This separation will now take place more rapidly as presumed.
Qimonda will start with about 12’000 employees and will be the fourth largest DRAM manufacturer; the company has access to five 300 millimeter wafer processing lines on three continents (at their own plants in Dresden and Richmond/Virginia, in co-operation with Nanya at Inotera in Taiwan, with a made-to-order production at Winbond in Taiwan and a partnership with SMIC in China).
