The new generation of memory: takeMS DDR2

The memory specialist Memorysolution announces the availability of DDR2-533 modules of its own takeMS brand. This new generation of memory is now available for purchase.

Breisach, Germany, January 18, 2005 - Memorysolution, the internationally operating special supplier of memory and Flash products, has announced the availability of takeMS DDR2-533. These takeMS modules, which have been manufactured in line with German quality standards, meet the rigid JEDEC specifications and the extended requirements of Intel.

The new memory standard lays the foundation for higher transfer performance while at the same time improving signal quality considerably. To achieve this, the chip architecture was completely reassessed. The new fine-pitch Ball Grid Array (FBGA) case design is less susceptible to interference and the "on-die termination" (ODT) makes it free of signal distortion. The supply voltage, which has been lowered to 1.8 V, has also noticeably reduced the amount of heat loss on the module.

According to Gerald Diercks, Managing Director at Memorysolution, the performance DDR2 modules offers, which is comparable to conventional DDR-400 modules with a theoretical memory bandwidth of 3.97 GByte /s and slower memory timings (4-4-4-12), is not the decisive factor driving sales.

“Whoever decides to buy DDR2 stands to gain from significantly higher signal quality which ultimately means more stability. If it’s time to replace your board, DDR2 is a good investment in the future.”

Driving the shift to the new generation in this quarter is the support it offers for chipset and main board manufacturers.

The new takeMS memory modules DDR2-533 are now available in capacities of 512 MB and 1 GB. Memorysolution offers a 10-year warranty on all memory products. Prices upon request.
